Federal agents conducted a raid in Los Angeles’ Fashion District on Thursday, causing concern among vendors and shoppers.
Videos from Union del Barrio and Citizen.com captured agents at Maple Avenue and East 11th Street, a key area in the wholesale apparel zone. Witnesses reported that agents were asking vendors for proof of citizenship.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass expressed her worries about the operation, describing it as troubling. “They hit the Fashion District again. The Fashion District that hasn’t recovered from the raids that happened several months ago,” Bass said. She criticized the escalation of such actions from the White House, stating, “The idea that you would terrorize the American public and that Angelenos still have to live in fear, never knowing when and where ICE is going to show up.”
The raid has sparked fear and uncertainty in the community, with many questioning the frequency and impact of these operations on local businesses and residents.
