Children Among Those Injured in Grand Blanc LDS Church Shooting and Fire

GRAND BLANC, Mich. — Multiple people, including children, were injured Sunday morning in a shooting at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, near Flint.

Authorities said the shooter is down, but a fire broke out inside the church during the incident, sending heavy plumes of smoke into the air. Videos shared by residents showed dark clouds rising above the building as nearby roads were shut down.

Emergency crews transported victims from the scene to area hospitals. The exact number of those wounded and their conditions remain unclear.

Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel said they are receiving briefings on the attack and confirmed that the FBI and ATF will assist local authorities. Both described the shooting and fire at the place of worship as a heartbreaking and criminal act, offering prayers for the victims and their families.

Grand Blanc, a suburb of Flint located about an hour north of Detroit, was placed on high alert as police urged the public to avoid the area while response efforts continued.

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed, and investigators have not yet released details about the shooter’s identity or possible motive.
