Popular FOX 2 Detroit anchor Amy Andrews revealed that “severe depression and anxiety” were the reason for her absence over the past few months.
“Thank you so much to all of those who’ve been reaching out. My severe depression and anxiety have returned in full force. I’ve stepped away from the anchor desk temporarily to battle with all I have so I can come back and spend my mornings with you. Much love always…,” Andrews wrote on her X account.
Andrews revealed she would be taking a “few weeks off from anchoring” in order “to deal with some health issues” in a post shared on X in May. The popular anchor is set to return to FOX 2 Detroit on Friday (August 2).
Andrews has been a public advocate for mental heath awareness and acknowledged her personal experiences over the years. The anchor had previously taken several months off in 2022 to battle severe depression and anxiety.
“I finally had to take a step back and address it so I could move forward,” Andrews wrote on her X account in June 2022. “We never know what others are dealing with so always try to be kind and don’t ever be ashamed to admit that you may need a little help. Thanks to Fox 2 for allowing me to make my mental health a priority.”
