Jimmy Kimmel ‘Livid’ Over Suspension, Seeks To End Contract With ABC

Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly “absolutely f—ing livid” after ABC suspended his late-night talk show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” indefinitely. The decision came after Kimmel made controversial remarks about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk during a recent monologue. The suspension was announced on Wednesday, just hours before the show was set to air.

Kimmel, 57, is refusing to apologize and is eager to sever ties with ABC. According to Page Six, Kimmel is exploring ways to break his contract with the network and is considering a guest appearance on Stephen Colbert’s show, which is also facing cancellation next year.

The controversy stems from Kimmel’s comments about Kirk’s shooting at Utah Valley University on September 10. Kimmel criticized the “MAGA gang” for allegedly using the incident for political gain, prompting backlash from President Trump and others. An NPR report noted that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman, Brendan Carr, threatened action against ABC affiliates airing the show.

Despite the suspension, Kimmel has received support from various quarters, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, comedians, actors, and free speech organizations. The Writers Guild of America also condemned the suspension, emphasizing the importance of free speech.

Kimmel’s suspension follows CBS’s cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s show, with President Trump celebrating both decisions on social media. Trump urged NBC to cancel other late-night hosts critical of him, including Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers.
