California’s ‘Butt Sniffer’ Sent Back To Jail

Calese Carron Crowder, a 38-year-old registered sex offender from Southern California, has been sentenced to 135 days in Los Angeles County Jail after admitting to violating his parole. Crowder, known as the “butt sniffer,” was arrested again in mid-August for an incident at a store in Burbank. This arrest came just a month after a similar incident at Burbank’s Empire Center shopping center.

Crowder has a history of similar offenses in Burbank and Glendale dating back to 2021. In July, police responded to a report of a suspicious individual loitering in the women’s department at Nordstrom Rack. Crowder had left the store by the time officers arrived, but he was later found and arrested at a nearby Walmart. Surveillance footage showed him following a female shopper and engaging in inappropriate behavior by sniffing her buttocks, according to Burbank police.

In August 2023, a viral TikTok video posted by Michaela Witter showed Crowder crouching behind her at a Barnes & Noble in Burbank. When confronted, Crowder claimed he was tying his shoes. This video led to his arrest. Crowder’s previous offenses include peeping into a family’s home in Glendale and serving time for indecent exposure in Santa Clarita. Despite being sentenced to a year in jail in February 2023, he was released early.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Crowder will spend at least the next four and a half months in jail. Authorities urge anyone who believes they may have been a victim to contact the Burbank Police Department’s Investigations Division.
