Woman Accused Of Trying To Send Fentanyl-laced Chocolates To Ex-Husband

Pamela Jean Stanley, a 63-year-old woman from Coleman, Texas, has been indicted for allegedly attempting to send her ex-husband fentanyl-laced chocolates. According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, Stanley planned to send the candies as a fake engagement gift. She intended to make it appear as if the package was from a travel agency with a congratulatory note for his recent engagement.

Authorities revealed that Stanley discussed her plan with an acquaintance, unaware that the conversation was being recorded. She was arrested in the parking lot of a local motel during an undercover operation where she attempted to purchase what she believed was fentanyl. At the time of her arrest, Stanley was also found with 9.5 grams of methamphetamine.

Stanley has been charged with criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Her ex-husband, Jeff Kauth, expressed relief that the plan was thwarted, admitting he would have likely consumed the laced chocolates. Kauth, who was married to Stanley for 14 years before their divorce in 2019, had previously raised concerns about threats from his ex-wife, including rumors of her hiring a hitman.

Stanley remains in custody with a bond set at $450,000. She is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on August 12, with the jury trial set to begin on October 20. Her attorney has not commented on the case.
