Iconic Malibu Restaurants Reopen After Palisades Fire

After months of closure due to the Palisades Fire, iconic Malibu restaurants Mastro’s Ocean Club, Gladstones, and Duke’s Malibu are reopening just in time for summer. These beloved oceanfront spots are welcoming back locals and tourists with fresh menus and familiar faces.

Mastro’s Ocean Club, which sustained minimal wind damage, reopened in late May. Despite losing all food and alcohol, the restaurant treated its reopening like a new launch, ensuring everything was fresh. According to Mastro’s Restaurants Regional Vice President Patrick Barrett, the restaurant has returned to its classic offerings, including USDA prime steaks and seafood towers, along with live entertainment seven nights a week. Mastro’s will also launch a weekend brunch starting July 5.

Gladstones will partially reopen on July 4 with its outdoor deck, featuring a new design by architect Stephen Francis Jones and a mural by artist Jonas Never. While the interior remains closed for renovations, the deck will serve signature dishes like fish tacos and lobster rolls. Throughout July, Malibu and Pacific Palisades residents and first responders will enjoy a 50 percent discount on food and drinks. The main dining room is expected to reopen in early 2026.

Duke’s Malibu is also preparing for a late July reopening. Both Duke’s and Gladstones were affected by the fire, but their structures were spared. The reopening efforts were delayed by mudslides in April, which temporarily closed the Pacific Coast Highway.

The return of these establishments marks a significant step in Malibu’s recovery. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, Gladstones manager Jim Harris emphasized the restaurant’s role as a community center, offering a place of normalcy after the devastating fire.
