Wrestling legend ‘Nature Boy‘ Ric Flair announced he’s been diagnosed with skin cancer for “the second time in three years” in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE on Friday (June 6).
“It’s the second time in three years that I’ve been dealing with skin cancer,” he said. “I will be undergoing treatment next week.”
Flair, 76, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer who is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, said he intended to keep his diagnosis private before he felt ready to reveal it publicly.
“Appreciate the concerns!” he added.
Flair had previously denied reports that he had cancer in a post shared on his X account last month.
“I’m Sorry People Have Been Misled By Social Media, But I Don’t Have Cancer Of Any Kind. Thank You For Your Concerns And For Everyone Reaching Out. I Am Absolutely Fine, And Unfortunately, You’ll Have To Live And Put Up With Me For Another 25 Years!” Flair wrote.
Flair is one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling, having won 16 world titles in several promotions, a record that stood for decades before being surpassed by John Cena at WrestleMania 41 in April. The 76-year-old is also the father of WWE superstar Charlotte Flair, who has won a record 14 women’s world titles.
