A woman was found screaming for help and bleeding from her head after an alleged unprovoked attack in Culver City on Tuesday evening. According to the Culver City Police Department, a 911 caller reported hearing the woman’s cries near the 4100 block of Madison Avenue. Officers arrived around 6:44 p.m. to find the “visibly injured” victim sitting on the ground, holding the back of her bleeding head.
The investigation revealed that the victim was on a walk when she noticed a stranger following her. The suspect, described as a man in his 30s, allegedly attacked her from behind, pulling her to the ground and repeatedly punching her in the head. Paramedics transported the woman to a hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers canvassed the area and quickly located a suspect matching the description near the 4100 block of La Salle Avenue. The police detained and positively identified him, arresting him for assault likely to produce great bodily injury. The Culver City Police Department commended the swift actions of the responding officers and the community members who intervened by calling for help.
