CHATSWORTH (CNS) – Six Flags Entertainment Corp. was sued Friday by a man who alleges he was seriously injured while riding Magic Mountain’s Black Snake Summit water slide in 2024.
Christopher Michael Lavrar’s Chatsworth Superior Court lawsuit alleges negligence and premises liability. He seeks unspecified damages and compensation for wage losses. A Magic Mountain representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
According to the suit, Lavrar went to the Valencia theme park on June 15 and was on the water slide when he struck an “uneven, defective, cracked, broken and/or deteriorated portion of the tube and/or slide,” leaving him with a “severe injury and pain.”
Park management “owed a duty to this plaintiff and others lawfully on said premises to keep said premises in a good and safe condition,” but they were instead “negligent, careless and reckless” in the care and maintenance of the ride, the suit alleges.
The lawsuit does not state where Lavrar was hurt or the scope of his injuries.
According to the Magic Mountain website, Black Snake Summit is a complex of four water slides where riders find themselves in pitch darkness at a peak of 75 feet, making them the tallest enclosed water slides in Southern California.
“But you’ll be too busy whipping around their 500 feet of curves and turns to realize how high you’re dropping,” the website states.
