Homeless Man Wins $1 Million on California Lottery Scratcher

A man living on the streets of San Luis Obispo has won a $1 million jackpot on a California Lottery scratcher. The winning ticket, a Triple Red 777 scratcher, was purchased at Sandy’s Deli-Liquor, located at 586 Higuera Street. The identity of the winner has not been disclosed, but he is known as a “loyal customer” of the store.

Wilson Samaan, the manager of Sandy’s Deli-Liquor, confirmed the win on Monday, expressing his happiness for the winner. “He deserved every penny of it,” Samaan told the Chronicle. “He’s a good guy.”

The odds of winning a $1 million prize on a Triple Red 777 scratcher are 1 in 2,047,423, according to the California State Lottery. The lottery has yet to officially confirm the win, a process that typically takes six to eight weeks, though it could take longer if there are unusual circumstances.

The news has been celebrated by the local community, with Adam Kemp, owner of a nearby business, Thrifty Beaches, congratulating the winner in an Instagram post. In a video, Kemp pans the camera to the winner, who holds a page showing the winning ticket and says, “I just can’t wait to get off the streets.”
