The incident occurred near Santee Alley around 3:15 p.m. local time. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the injured include an 8-year-old boy, an 11-year-old boy, and a 17-year-old boy, all of whom were transported to the hospital in fair condition. Four adults, including a 54-year-old woman, a 65-year-old woman, a 30-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old woman, were also hospitalized. Two other 23-year-old women were released in fair condition against medical advice.

The driver reportedly swerved to avoid a stopped car and crashed into a barrier next to a restaurant. The minivan ended up under a collapsed patio, and fire companies remained on the scene to manage the situation.
