Family Members Vanish After Leaving Grand Canyon

Authorities in Arizona are searching for three family members who went missing after leaving the Grand Canyon last week. Jiyeon Lee, 23, Taehee Kim, 69, and Junghee Kim, 64, were last seen traveling in a rented white 2024 BMW with California license plate 9KHN768. They were headed to Las Vegas when they disappeared.

According to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle’s GPS indicated it was traveling westbound on Interstate 40 around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday (March 13). That same day, a severe snowstorm caused a major accident involving 22 vehicles on the highway’s westbound lanes near Williams, Arizona. The crash resulted in two fatalities and 16 injuries, as reported by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The sheriff’s office is aware of the accident but has not confirmed whether the family’s vehicle was involved. They are urging anyone who has seen or had contact with the family to reach out to the authorities. Those with information can contact the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office at (928) 774-4523 or Silent Witness at (928) 774-6111.

As the search continues, the community remains hopeful for the safe return of the missing family members.
