165,000 Pounds Of Frozen Chicken Nuggets And Chicken Tenders Recalled

Perdue Foods is recalling over 165,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets and chicken tenders because they may be contaminated with metal.

U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said the recall includes the 22-ounce Simply Smart organics breaded chicken breast nuggets, the 29-ounce chicken breast tenders, and the 22-ounce Butcherbox organic chicken breast nuggets.

The products all have a “Best If Used By” date of March 23, 2025, and are labeled with the establishment number P-33944 on the back of the bag.

The issue was discovered following several consumer complaints about finding metal in the chicken products. However, the USDA said there were no reports of injuries or adverse reactions from consuming the products.

“FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ freezers,” the agency said. “Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”

Consumers can contact Perdue Consumer Care by calling 1-866-866-3703 for more information about the recall.

The USDA said the chicken tenders and nuggets were distributed to grocery stores nationwide. The agency said that when a list of stores is available, it will be posted on www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
