ALHAMBRA (NS) – A woman was killed and at least three others, including an Alhambra Police Department officer, were injured in a violent, high-speed pursuit Thursday in Alhambra.
Police responded to the area of Valley Boulevard and Fremont Avenue around 3 a.m. Thursday regarding a pursuit. During the pursuit, multiple vehicles collided and a woman was ejected from a gray SUV, ABC 7 reported.
The victim who was ejected in the crash was pronounced dead, according to reports from the scene. The officer, who ABC 7 reported was unconscious after the crash, was taken to Los Angeles General Medical Center in critical condition and the other victims were taken to a hospital in unknown conditions.
Fox 11 reported a man was taken into custody by police at the scene, but it was not immediately known if it was in connection with the crash.
Video from the scene showed the vehicles, including a badly wrecked police cruiser, with significant damage from the crash.
It was not clear what touched off the chase.
California Highway Patrol Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service her agency was assisting Alhambra with the investigation of the crash.
