Yucca Valley Man Charged with Threatening President Trump

Thomas Eugene Streavel, a 73-year-old resident of Yucca Valley, California, has been charged with making threats to assassinate President Donald Trump. Streavel faces three counts of threatening the president, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. He was arrested on Monday and arraigned in the United States District Court in Riverside, where he pleaded not guilty to all charges. A trial is scheduled for July 28.

The charges stem from multiple Facebook posts made by Streavel after the 2024 presidential election. According to the indictment, Streavel posted messages expressing his intent to harm or have others harm President Trump. For example, on November 6, 2024, he allegedly wrote, “[T]rump is a dead man walking for the time being until a patriot like myself blows his [expletive] brains out in the very near future.” Streavel continued to post similar threats throughout November, including one on November 28, where he stated, “I am your assassin.”

Attorney General Pamela Bondi emphasized the seriousness of these threats, noting that they resemble rhetoric that led to previous attempts on President Trump’s life. The United States Secret Service is investigating the case. If convicted, Streavel could face up to 15 years in federal prison, with each count carrying a maximum sentence of five years.

Streavel was released on a $10,000 bond following his arraignment.
