YouTuber Rescues Loyal Dog After Fatal Watts Crash

A YouTuber known for his car content, Alex Choi, has gained attention for rescuing a dog that stayed by its deceased owner’s side after a tragic hit-and-run incident in Watts on August 18. The cyclist was killed in the crash, leaving his loyal canine companion alone.

Choi, who often covers breaking news scenes, arrived at the crash site and noticed the dog pacing and howling near the body. “He kind of just paced around the canopy where they had his owner’s body,” Choi said. Determined to help, Choi took the dog home, although it initially resisted, possibly perceiving Choi’s actions as a kidnapping attempt.

The dog’s troubles continued when it escaped from Choi’s home, likely trying to return to its owner. After two weeks, community members found the dog, which now rarely leaves Choi’s side. Despite not knowing the dog’s name, Choi affectionately calls it “dawg.”

Choi is now seeking a permanent home for the dog, as his three other dogs have not warmed up to the new addition. He hopes a friend or someone familiar might adopt the loyal canine. Meanwhile, Choi’s recent legal issues were resolved when charges related to a social media stunt were dismissed by the U.S. attorney’s office.
