A road rage incident in Sylmar took a dangerous turn when a woman brandished a machete.. The altercation, which occurred on Saturday, was captured on cellphone video and has since sparked concern among local residents. Both individuals involved in the incident have claimed they were victims of aggressive behavior and felt threatened.
According to the driver who recorded the video, the situation escalated when the woman made a threat, prompting him to respond, “Oh, you’re going to skin me?” He expressed his fear for safety, stating, “I don’t feel safe driving around here,” in an interview with ABC7.
This was not the first time the woman, identified as Andrea, was involved in such an incident. Another video from February in Santa Clarita showed her in a similar situation, although only the sheath of the machete was visible. Andrea acknowledged her actions, saying, “I take accountability for the fact that I let emotions get the better of me in both incidents.” She emphasized that she felt genuinely threatened and asked people not to judge based on brief video clips.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Mission Division has taken a police report from the driver involved in Saturday’s incident. Law enforcement expert Bruce Thomas advised against taking independent action in such situations, suggesting instead to call 911. He highlighted the potential dangers, saying, “She pulls a machete. What if this guy had a gun and says, ‘I was in fear of my life, therefore I shot her?'”
