Woman Struck and Killed on 10 Freeway in West Covina

WEST COVINA (CNS) – A female pedestrian was struck and killed this morning on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina.

A witness told the California Highway Patrol at 12:41 a.m. that a woman wearing dark clothing was walking in the slow lane of the eastbound San Bernardino around the Holt Avenue on-ramp.

At 12:47 a.m., a witness told the CHP the woman was down in front of a white pickup with a camper shell around the right shoulder. Witnesses also told the CHP a man got out of the truck and walked around before getting back into the truck and driving away.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.

The CHP issued a SigAlert at about 1 a.m. shutting down eastbound lanes 4 and 5 for its investigation.  All lanes were reopened at 4:50 a.m.
