AZUSA (CNS) – A woman was killed and three people were injured Wednesday when a vehicle flew off an off-ramp to the Foothill (210) Freeway in Azusa and smashed into a parked vehicle at a fast food restaurant, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday at the South Azusa Avenue off-ramp to the eastbound 210 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.
A 2019 Ford Fusion driven by a 17-year-old boy exited from the number 2 lane onto the Azusa Avenue off-ramp, the CHP said. The car drifted to the right, striking a guardrail, then it continued down an embankment into a parking lot at 229 Azusa Avenue and crashed into the left side of a parked 2016 Porsche Cayenne. That force pushed the Porsche into a 2017 Dodge Charger and debris struck a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado truck.
A 57-year-old Azusa woman who was a rear-seat passenger in the Porsche was rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to the CHP. Her name was not immediately released.
The driver of the Porsche, 25-year-old Edmund Tseng of Azusa, was also hospitalized, the CHP said.
The juvenile driver of the Ford Fusion suffered minor injuries and was treated another hospital before he was arrested, the CHP said. Alcohol and/or drugs were suspected to be contributing factors to the crash.
