Woman Accused Of Locking Boyfriend In Storage Unit For Five Days

A woman in North Carolina, Robin Renae Deaton, 52, faces serious charges after allegedly locking her boyfriend in a storage unit for five days. According to Monroe police, the incident occurred on Thursday (February 20) when Deaton reportedly locked the man inside during an argument. He remained trapped without food or water until he found his phone and called for help on Monday (February 24).

“I’ve been locked in a storage unit for about a week now and I just now found my phone,” the man told the 911 dispatcher.

Police described the unit as a “hoarder’s paradise,” with items spilling out when they opened it.

Lieutenant Morgan Malone of the Monroe Police Department stated that Deaton allegedly convinced the man to crawl to the back of the unit before locking him inside and saying, “This is what you get.”

The man was treated for dehydration but has since been released from the hospital. Despite initially changing his story to suggest it was unintentional, police remain skeptical. They have charged Deaton with first-degree kidnapping and attempted murder, believing she intended for him to die in the unit. Deaton is currently held without bond in Mecklenburg County, awaiting extradition to Union County. Her court hearing is set for March 17.
