White House Says First Deportation Flights Have Begun

The White House announced on Friday (January 24) that deportation flights have commenced under President Donald Trump‘s administration. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared photos of individuals boarding military aircraft, emphasizing that those who illegally enter the United States will face severe consequences. The images, released on X, show flights departing from Biggs Army Airfield at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, with one plane reportedly bound for Guatemala.

In the past few days, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested over 530 undocumented immigrants, including individuals with criminal records, for offenses such as sexual assault, robbery, and drug-related crimes. Among those detained were workers at a fish market in Newark, New Jersey, where local officials, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, criticized the operation as a violation of the Fourth Amendment due to the lack of warrants.

The Trump administration has pledged to conduct the largest mass deportation operation in U.S. history. The Department of Defense is providing airlift support for these operations, utilizing military aircraft to deport individuals detained near San Diego and El Paso.
