Urgent Recall Issued For Cereal That May Contain Pieces Of Sharp Metal

Post Consumer Brands has issued an urgent recall for over 5,300 boxes of Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds due to potential contamination with sharp metal pieces. The recall, initially announced on May 28, 2025, was classified as a “Class II” recall by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on June 12, 2025. This classification indicates that consuming the cereal may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.

The affected cereal was distributed to Sam’s Club stores in California and Colorado. Although Post claims that none of the contaminated products reached store shelves, consumers are advised to check their cereal boxes for the UPC code 8 84912-01428 3 and “Best If Used By” dates of April 9, 2026, or April 10, 2026. If you have these boxes, do not consume the cereal. Instead, discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.

The FDA has not reported any injuries linked to the contaminated cereal. However, ingestion of metal pieces could lead to various injuries, including cuts to the mouth, tongue, or throat, and even more severe internal damage. The recall only affects Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds from Sam’s Club, and no other Post products are involved.
