U.S. Launches More Strikes On Iran

The United States launched additional strikes on Iran today, escalating tensions in the region. According to U.S. Central Command, these strikes were in response to Iran launching a drone at another ship traveling through the Strait of Hormuz. This follows a similar U.S. military action just a day earlier, after a previous ship attack by Iran.

Tehran responded to the first U.S. strikes on Saturday (June 27) by striking U.S.-linked targets in the region, as reported by Al Jazeera. The recent exchange of attacks comes only a week after a deal was signed to eventually end the conflict between the two nations.

The situation has drawn criticism from U.S. lawmakers. Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna condemned the Trump administration’s actions, citing a recent congressional resolution requiring President Trump to seek approval before continuing military operations against Iran. Khanna stated on X, “These strikes are a blatant violation of the War Powers Resolution that we passed.”

Iran’s state broadcaster, IRIB, reported that several projectiles hit areas on Qeshm Island, where many of Iran’s military facilities are located. The Iranian government has cited Article Five of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which allows them to make arrangements for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, as justification for their actions.

As the situation continues to develop, the international community remains on edge, with concerns about the potential impact on global oil prices and regional stability. The U.S. has indicated that further military action may be taken if Iranian aggression persists.
