INGLEWOOD (CNS) – A former employee of an aviation training institute suspected of shooting two people at its Inglewood campus Friday was arrested.
Both victims were taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The shooting occurred Friday afternoon at the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in the 8900 block of Aviation Boulevard, between Arbor Vitae Street and Hillcrest Boulevard, authorities said.
It was unclear what motivated the shooting.
Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene to establish a perimeter to conduct separate investigations.
According to Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts, initial reports indicated that the suspect was armed with a rifle.
Butts confirmed that a 9mm shell casing was found at the scene and noted that DNA or fingerprint evidence may be present on it.
KTLA5 reported that the suspect, a former employee of the college, was taken into custody, citing information provided by Butts.
There was no distinct description of the suspect, although Butts described him as a man possibly last seen wearing security guard attire.
