In the early hours of Wednesday (October 22), two women tragically lost their lives in Houston, Texas, after their fight spilled into a busy road. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near the Cullen Food Mart in the southeast part of the city. According to the Houston Police Department, the women, one in her 30s and the other estimated to be in her 50s, were involved in a physical altercation that led them into the street, where they were struck by a red sedan.
The driver of the sedan did not stop to render aid and continued driving, leading police to launch an investigation into the hit-and-run. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the vehicle and driver involved. Sergeant David Rose of the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division emphasized the severity of leaving the scene of such an accident, noting it is a felony to do so.
The cause of the dispute between the women remains unknown, but police indicated that this was not their first altercation. The women’s identities have not yet been confirmed, and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is working to verify their identities. As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the driver to contact the HPD Hit-and-Run Unit or Crime Stoppers.
Sergeant Rose expressed the preventable nature of the tragedy, stating, “Life is more precious than this. It’s sad. These people have families that care about them, they have people that will miss them, and they’re gone.”
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek justice for the victims and closure for their families.
