Two Powerball tickets sold in Southern California matched five numbers in the Wednesday drawing, each winning $984,594. The tickets were purchased at Stater Bros. on Arlington Avenue in Riverside and Albertsons on Highway 58 in Bakersfield. Although no one claimed the $1.4 billion jackpot, the winning numbers were 3, 16, 29, 61, and 69, with a Powerball of 22. The Power Play multiplier was 2X.
The jackpot now rises to an estimated $1.7 billion for the next drawing on Saturday, making it the third-largest prize in Powerball history. Players can choose between an annuitized prize of $1.7 billion or a lump sum of $770.3 million, both before taxes. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
This Powerball run has generated over $114 million for California public education, with about 80 cents from every $2 ticket going to schools, according to KTLA. The next drawing will be live-streamed on Powerball.com at 7:59 p.m. PT.
