Trump’s ‘Board Of Peace’ Holds First Meeting

President Donald Trump‘s ‘Board of Peace’ held its inaugural meeting on Thursday (February 19) despite the absence of key U.S. allies, NBC News reports.

Representatives of at least 40 countries were expected to be present at the summit at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., a senior U.S. official confirmed. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Argentinian President Javier Milei, both allies of Trump, are among the expected attendees.

Trump is reportedly expected to announce a multi-billion-dollar reconstruction plan for Gaza, which he claims has already garnered a more than $5 billion pledge from unidentified countries, as well as unveil details of plans for a stabilization force in the area, which was authorized by the United Nations, including which countries would send troops to the initiative. A senior U.S. official said the summit would include updates on “all the lines of effort” in Gaza following the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement in November.

The president claimed that the summit would be comprised of the “greatest leaders in the world,” having unveiled the ‘Board of Peace’ during a ceremony at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday (January 22), at which point he claimed Israel’s war with Hamas was mostly over.

“They’re down to little fires,” Trump said of the situation in the Palestinian enclave, which has been ongoing for more than two years, via the New York Post. “We can put them out very easily.”

Trump, 79, was the first to sign the charter inaugurating the global board rivaling the United Nations during the ceremony in Davos and was joined by leaders of 20 other countries — Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan — on stage.
