President Donald Trump is set to visit California on Tuesday as part of a two-day West Coast trip to promote his economic achievements and raise funds for the Republican Party.
During his visit, he will headline a Republican National Committee dinner at Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles before traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wednesday to deliver remarks at Red Rock Casino.
According to a White House spokesperson, Trump plans to highlight his administration’s accomplishments, including a significant middle-class tax cut and a reduction in crime rates. The trip will also serve as an opportunity for Trump to criticize California Governor Gavin Newsom, whom he has previously clashed with over policy differences.
While in California, Trump aims to draw a contrast between his policies and those of the state’s Democratic leadership. He has accused Newsom of raising taxes and mismanaging state programs. The two have frequently exchanged barbs on social media, with Trump nicknaming the governor “new-scum.” Newsom, in turn, has criticized Trump’s administration for its impact on California, describing it as a “relentless, unhinged California obsession” in his State of the State address.
In Nevada, Trump will focus on his economic policies, particularly the “no tax on tips” provision, which allows service workers to deduct up to $25,000 on qualified tips from their income taxes. This policy has reportedly led to a 15% increase in tax refunds for Nevadans. However, the economic impact of Trump’s policies remains a topic of debate, with some critics arguing that the benefits are skewed towards wealthier individuals.
