Trump to Lead Task Force for 2028 L.A. Olympics

President Donald Trump is set to announce an executive order on Tuesday to establish a White House task force for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The task force will focus on security, transportation, and visa processing, according to KATV. The White House has confirmed that President Trump will lead the task force, which aims to enhance federal involvement in the preparations for the Games.

The task force will coordinate with local officials in Los Angeles, although the relationship between the Trump administration and Southern California leaders has been strained due to recent immigration policies. Despite this, Casey Wasserman, chairman of the Los Angeles Olympics organizing committee, expressed gratitude for the administration’s support. “On behalf of LA28, I want to express our deep appreciation to President Trump and his Administration for their leadership and unwavering support,” Wasserman said in a statement reported by NBC Los Angeles.

The task force will include members from the President’s cabinet and various government agencies, as reported by The New York Times. It will streamline visa processing and credentialing for foreign athletes, coaches, officials, and media. The 2028 Olympics will mark the first time an American city has hosted the Summer Games since Atlanta in 1996.
