President Donald Trump received a dramatic fighter jet escort before landing in Saudi Arabia Tuesday (May 13) morning, with six Saudi F-15s flying “in close proximity” to Air Force One during the final half-hour of its flight.
Trump’s deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino shared a video clip of the jets flying closely to Air Force One on his X account.
“Good morning from Air Force One, Saudi Arabia! Thank you for the escort, and having President Trump’s back—We all appreciate it. See you on the ground shortly, THANK YOU!!!” Scavino wrote.
Trump pumped his fist after exiting Air Force One and was greeted by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the tarmac before being escorted down a lavender carpet to an indoor meeting space ahead of a coffee ceremony. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick were among the Trump administration officials present on Air Force One during the flight.
The streets of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital city, were lined with American flags and mobile billboards displayed ads for the recently-announced Disney Abu Dhabi theme park set to be located in the neighboring United Arab Emirates amid Trump’s visit. The president is scheduled to give a speech at an investor forum for several of the world’s top tech leaders, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Sam Altman, before participating in a state dinner on Tuesday and is also set to visit Qatar and the United Arab Emirates during his tour of the Middle East this week.
