Trump Plans Lengthy Fourth Of July Speech Despite Heat

President Donald Trump announced that he will deliver a long speech on the National Mall for the Fourth of July, even as forecasts predict record heat in Washington, D.C. Speaking on Wednesday (July 1) at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota, Trump stated, “It’s going to be approximately 107 degrees out, and I’m going to make a really long speech just to show that I can do anything.”

The “Salute to America 250 Celebration & Fireworks” event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m., with Trump set to speak at 9:45 p.m. EDT. Despite the forecasted high of 107 degrees, temperatures are expected to drop to the upper 80s by the time Trump speaks. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of extreme heat risks throughout Saturday, with heat indices potentially exceeding 110 degrees.

The event, organized by Freedom 250, will feature military flyovers and is billed as the largest fireworks display in history. However, concerns about the extreme heat have been raised, with health experts cautioning that prolonged exposure could lead to heat-related illnesses.

Washington’s Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed that the fireworks are set to begin at 11 p.m. The NWS noted that the heatwave is affecting much of the United States, with over 142 million Americans under an extreme heat warning.

As the Fourth of July approaches, organizers are implementing safety measures, including providing free water and misting stations, to ensure the well-being of attendees.
