Trump Approval Rating Sets New Record

President Donald Trump‘s approval rating has reportedly dropped to a new low for his second term in office, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Tuesday (March 24).

The survey showed that only 36% of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, a drop by 4% from the poll conducted one week prior. The president previously had an approval rating of 47% during his first days in office, which had been around 40% since the past summer.

Trump’s recent drop has been linked to the ongoing war in Iran, which was launched on February 28, as many Americans are angered by surging gas prices caused by Iran blockading the Strait of Hormuz, which serves as a vital waterway for trade along the Persian Gulf, as food prices continue to rise. An estimated 25% of respondents approve on how Trump has handled to current cost of living, which was a main focus of his 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump was already reported to have his lowest approval rating ever, according to a recent Daily Mail/JL Partners poll. The survey, which was released last Friday (March 20), showed that Trump had a 42% approval rating, which was down 2% from March 3, just days after he launched ‘Operation Epic Fury‘ in Iran.

The president’s approval rating was as high as 48% in the Daily Mail poll conducted in late January. An estimated 28% of respondents cited the war in Iran as the top reason for their disapproval for Trump’s job performance, which was an increase of 8% since a poll conducted earlier in the month.

An estimated 44% of respondents cited inflation as their reason for disapproval, an increase of 6% from a poll conducted earlier in the month.
