Three Burglary Suspects Killed in Police Pursuit in Anaheim

ANAHEIM (CNS) – Three burglary suspects were killed in a crash at the end of a police pursuit on the northbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Anaheim early Wednesday.

The Anaheim Police Department responded to the alleged theft of a black sedan in the 1400 block of Marlboro Ave. at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday. Officers pursued the suspects onto the northbound freeways, Anaheim Police Sgt. Matt Sutter told City News Service.

After a short pursuit, the suspects lost control of the sedan and crashed near the Brookhurst Avenue exit, Sutter said.

Three of the suspects were pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said. No officers were injured in the pursuit or crash.

The California Highway Patrol issued a Sigalert closing four lanes of the northbound freeway near Brookhurst for several hours while officers investigated the crash.
