‘The Boys’ Changes Upcoming Episode Title After Trump Assassination Attempt

Amazon changed the name of the final episode of season four of The Boys following the assassination attempt of Donald Trump. The episode, originally titled “Assassination Run,” is now “Season Four Finale.”

Amazon also placed a disclaimer before the episode, which premiered on Thursday (July 18).

“This episode contains scenes of fictional political violence. Any similarities to recent events are completely coincidental and unintentional,” the statement read. “Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony Pictures Television, and the producers of ‘The Boys’ oppose, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.”

The show also posted a disclaimer about the episode on Instagram, noting the episode was filmed in 2023.

“The season finale of ‘The Boys’ contains scenes of fictional political violence, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt on former President Trump,” the showrunners said in the post. “‘The Boys’ is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional,” the disclaimer continued.

Before the start of season 4, the show’s creator, Eric Kripke, spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and commented on how the show’s storyline tends to mirror real-life headlines.

“It’s happened now almost every season, and we write them sometimes close to two years before they air, and again, we’ll find that the news is accurately reflecting whatever we’re talking about,” Kripke said.
