Teen Dies in Fireworks Accident in Vermont Knolls

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – A 17-year-old teen was killed in an accident involving fireworks in the South Los Angeles neighborhood of Vermont Knolls, police said Thursday.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 400 block of W. 84th Street west of the Harbor (110) Freeway where they found the victim, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

The teenager was taken to a hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics with severe injuries, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the cause of the victim’s death resulted from the explosion of a possible homemade firework.

The LAPD Bomb Squad was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident, NBC 4 reported.
