Authorities in Kenya have arrested a serial killer who confessed to murdering 42 women, including his wife, and dumping their dismembered bodies in a landfill.
Officials began searching the dump site on Friday (July 12) and have since recovered the remains of nine women, which were in nylon sacks. Officials were able to identify the suspect, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, 33, by tracking the mobile phone of one of the victims.
Khalusha was arrested while watching the Euro 2024 final at a bar. Police said he was in the process of luring another victim when he was arrested.
After being taken into custody, Khalusha led investigators to a one-bedroom apartment about 300 feet from the dump site. Inside the apartment, officers recovered a machete, a dozen nylon sacks, a pair of industrial rubber gloves, a hard drive, and ID cards for six men and two women.
“We are dealing with a serial killer, a psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life. We are dealing with a vampire, a psychopath,” the head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin, said.
A second suspect who was caught with one of the victims’ phones was also taken into custody.
