Suspect Found Dead Inside Lancaster Home After Long Standoff

LANCASTER (CNS) – A standoff with a Special Enforcement Bureau team from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and a barricaded armed man in Lancaster came to an end Tuesday morning after more than 15 hours when the suspect was found dead inside a residence.

Deputies from the department’s Lancaster Station responded to reports of a barricaded armed suspect at 43967 Blue Sky Court and Engle Way at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday. They contacted the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau, which responded to the scene, said the LASD.

SEB personnel assumed tactical command of the barricade and a Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to make contact with the suspect to bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion.

Surrounding homes were evacuated for the safety of the residents, according to the LASD.

Avenue J-8 from 21st Street West to 25th Street West was closed during the standoff.

A shot may have been heard around 5:45 a.m. That’s when Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives were called to conduct a death investigation.

The barricade was officially declared over an hour later, after the man was found dead.
