A suspect died early Tuesday morning after crashing off the westbound 10 Freeway in Ontario following a police chase.
The Ontario Police Department reported that the pursuit began just before 2 a.m. when officers attempted to stop a vehicle at Vineyard Avenue and Rosewood Court. The reason for the attempted stop remains unclear.
During the chase, the suspect drove onto the westbound 10 Freeway and attempted to exit at the Euclid Avenue off-ramp. The driver lost control and crashed into bushes off the freeway, dying at the scene. According to ABC7, one of the pursuing officers also lost control while exiting the freeway but did not collide with the suspect’s vehicle. The officer was not injured.
The incident led to the closure of the off-ramp, resulting in traffic delays in the area. The Ontario Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the chase and crash.
