Stay in LA Rallies at City Hall to ‘Keep Hollywood Home’

A grassroots coalition is heading to City Hall with a clear message: keep Hollywood home.

Stay in LA is urging supporters to attend the February 17 City Council meeting to back its “Keep Hollywood Home” initiative. Organizers say the goal is to stop runaway production and protect local entertainment jobs.

The group is calling for practical reforms to Los Angeles’ film permitting system, including waiving certain fees for low-impact shoots, cutting outdated restrictions, and streamlining approvals across city departments. Organizers say the changes could be implemented immediately without new legislation.

LA-based art director and prop master Michael Corrie says small and mid-size productions are critical to keeping crews consistently employed and sustaining L.A.’s film and television economy. And without reforms, he warns, more projects could continue leaving the city for other states and countries offering fewer barriers and lower costs.

Stay in LA is encouraging industry workers and supporters to sign a public pledge and show up in person to press city leaders to act.
