State Farm Cancels Super Bowl Ad Amid LA Wildfires

State Farm has decided to cancel its planned Super Bowl ad this year, choosing instead to focus on assisting customers affected by the devastating wildfires in Southern California. The insurance company, which has faced criticism for not renewing some policies due to fire risks, announced the decision on Wednesday (January 15). A State Farm spokesperson stated, “Our focus is firmly on providing support to the people of Los Angeles.”

The wildfires have destroyed thousands of homes and businesses, leading to over 7,400 home and auto insurance claims filed with State Farm. The company, which serves more than 8 million customers in California, expects this number to rise as residents return and assess the damage. State Farm has been criticized for its earlier decision to not renew 72,000 property insurance policies in the state, citing rising costs and increasing risks of catastrophes.

Last year, State Farm aired a Super Bowl commercial featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. This year, Fox, the network broadcasting the Super Bowl, has sold out its ad inventory, and State Farm’s spot is expected to be filled by another advertiser.
