It’s a big weekend at the movies, with one of Marvel’s biggest heroes returning to the big screen and acclaimed indie filmmaker Gregg Araki making his long-awaited return behind the camera.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already generating strong early buzz, with many critics calling it the best Spider-Man film of Tom Holland’s tenure. After years of multiverse mayhem and universe-building, this latest chapter brings the focus back to Peter Parker himself, balancing spectacular action with the emotional storytelling that made audiences fall in love with the character in the first place. Also arriving in theaters is I Want Your Sex, the first feature film from cult filmmaker Gregg Araki in more than a decade. Known for boundary-pushing films like The Doom Generation and Nowhere, Araki explores themes of desire, intimacy and power through the story of Elliot, played by Cooper Hoffman, a young assistant whose life is turned upside down after taking a job with provocative contemporary artist Erika Tracy, portrayed by Olivia Wilde. What begins as a strictly physical relationship quickly becomes far more complicated, as the film examines modern attitudes toward sex, relationships and emotional connection.
