PALMDALE (CNS) – More than a dozen dogs were abandoned in a Palmdale park, county animal care officials said Wednesday.
The 16 dogs had matted hair when they turned up in a corner of Pelona Vista Park, located in the 37000 block of Tierra Subida Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Animal Care Center in Palmdale.
It was not immediately clear when the dogs were found.
“It’s a call we couldn’t believe when it came in over the radio. Multiple loose small dogs appear left abandoned in the park,” according to a social media post by the center.
An officer arrived and saw the dogs, many with “matted fur filled with dirt and poop.”
“They smelled like it too,” according to the shelter.
The dogs were to be vaccinated, cared for and hopefully placed in foster or permanent homes.
Anyone with information on where the dogs came from or who left them at the park was urged to contact the center at palmdale@animalcare.lacounty.gov.
