Singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is under investigation as a suspect in the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The teen’s decomposed body was discovered on September 8 in the trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke, according to NBC News. Rivas Hernandez, who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, in April 2024, was last seen on April 5 of that year.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) found the body after responding to reports of a foul odor coming from the vehicle, which had been abandoned and towed to an impound lot in Hollywood. Sources indicated that the body was dismembered, suggesting involvement from more than one person in the crime. ABC News reported that the cause and manner of death remain undetermined, pending further investigation by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Despite initial claims from Burke’s spokesperson that he was cooperating with authorities, sources later stated that he has not been cooperative. Burke, who rose to fame on TikTok and has over 33 million monthly listeners on Spotify, canceled his U.S. tour following the discovery of Rivas Hernandez’s body. KLTV noted that a search warrant was executed at a Hollywood Hills residence where Burke had been staying, and investigators collected evidence, including a computer.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to determine the cause of death, which will be crucial in deciding whether charges will be filed against Burke or others involved.
