The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of ‘Today’ show co-host Savannah Guthrie, continues as Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos provides updates on the ongoing case. Speaking to KOLD, Nanos assured the public that his department is working diligently alongside the FBI to solve the case. He expressed confidence that an arrest will eventually be made, despite the case reaching over 100 days since Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance on January 31.
The investigation has faced challenges, including criticism from FBI Director Kash Patel regarding the initial handling of the case. Patel claimed the FBI was “kept out” of the investigation for the first four days. In response, Nanos maintained that the FBI has been involved from the start and that coordination between the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI is ongoing.
Efforts to locate Nancy Guthrie have included the analysis of mixed DNA samples found at her home, as well as the release of footage from her doorbell camera showing a masked individual. A reward of $1.2 million is being offered for information leading to her recovery.
The case has drawn national attention, with public figures like Khloé Kardashian expressing concern over the lack of concrete evidence. Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie has continued to appeal for help through social media and public appearances, emphasizing the family’s determination to find her mother.
Sheriff Nanos remains optimistic, stating, “I believe, at some point in time, we will make an arrest on this case.” He also noted that certain information is being withheld from the public to protect the integrity of the investigation.
