Serial Arsonist Linked to Five Los Angeles Fires Arrested

A suspected serial arsonist connected to at least five significant fires across the Los Angeles area has been arrested following a joint investigation by local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, officials announced this week.

The Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LAFD) Counter-Terrorism Section confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect’s alleged actions “placed both civilians and firefighters at serious risk.” The department did not release the suspect’s name, identity, or a list of the specific fires tied to the case, citing the ongoing investigation.

The arrest came after a coordinated effort between the LAFD, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Officials said the collaboration brought together local, state, and federal resources to track down the suspect.

Stephanie Bishop, LAFD spokesperson, emphasized the danger that serial arson poses to everyone involved. “Serial arson puts lives at risk on both sides of the fire line,” Bishop said. “This arrest is the product of disciplined, coordinated work across the LAFD, LAPD and ATF. It reflects our shared commitment to holding those who endanger our communities and our firefighters fully accountable.”

At least one of the fires is expected to be prosecuted at the federal level through the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. Authorities said additional details — including the suspect’s identity, specific charges, and the fires connected to the case — will be released by prosecutors once that information no longer poses a risk to the ongoing investigation.
