A routine tree trimming job ended in disaster after the truck tipped over and landed on the roof of a New York home. Homeowner Robert Shappy told WTEN that he hired a company to remove several trees from his backyard.
While the workers were cutting down the trees, their truck, which was equipped with a large crane, caved into the septic system on the side of Shappy’s home and tipped over, landing on his roof.
There was a worker on the crane at the time, and Shappy estimated it was about 100 feet in the air when it came crashing down.
“[The worker] kept saying, ‘I’m not hurt. I’m not hurt,” Shappy told the news station. “His buddies were there to pull the limbs off him, and he got up. And he says … ‘I’m OK.'”
Crews worked throughout the evening to remove the truck from the roof.
Shappy’s house suffered significant damage, and he said that he and his wife will have to stay in a motel until it is repaired. However, he was glad that nobody was injured.
