Search Ends for Missing Hiker in Southern California

The initial search phase for Monica Reza, a missing hiker from Southern California, has concluded, officials announced on Sunday. Reza, aged 60, was last seen on June 22 while hiking near Mount Waterman in the Angeles National Forest. Acting Captain Ryan A. Vienna of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Crescenta Valley Station stated, “While today concludes our initial response phase of this operation, the investigation will continue by our Homicide Bureau: Missing Persons Unit.”

Reza, a resident of Los Angeles County, is described as a white woman, standing 4 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 101 pounds, with brown eyes and gray hair. She was last seen wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, green hiking pants, and hiking shoes. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), Reza does not have any health conditions that would contribute to her disappearance, but her family and loved ones are deeply concerned for her well-being.

Numerous rescue teams and members of the public participated in the search efforts. However, the area where Reza went missing is known to be highly technical and challenging for inexperienced hikers. Authorities have requested that the public refrain from actively searching the area to ensure safety and respect the family’s request for privacy.

Anyone with information about Reza’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the LASD’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500, the Crescenta Valley Station at 818-248-3464, or Detective Rincon at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or via their website at lacrimestoppers.org.
