Former reality television star Kelsey Bateman, who competed on the third and final season of the VH1 dating series Rock of Love, has died at the age of 39, her family confirmed to TMZ.
Bateman, a Utah native, reportedly died “unexpectedly” and no cause of death was given as of Monday (September 1) morning. The former reality star was 21 years old when she and 22 other women competed to date Poison frontman Bret Michaels on the final season of Rock of Love in 2009.
Bateman was one of nine finalists before being eliminated on the seventh episode of the third season, having admitted to getting too “wasted” with fellow contestants Farrah Sinclair and Ashley Klarich.
“I ended up laying on a speed bump balling my eyes out but you know what? I’m here and I’m ready for whatever Bret has to say to me,” Bateman said during her confessional. “But I mean, hey, I can’t be the only girl that’s got drunk and laid on a speed bump. Let’s be honest.”
“Sometimes I get drunk and lay on speed bumps it’s just you know,” she added during the episode. “Apparently Bret just can’t handle a girl that likes to get drunk and lay on speed bumps. I mean maybe he’s not used to it.
“I’m going to go home and I’m going to be single I’m not going to think about guys for a while but the next guy I find definitely won’t be 44 and probably not a rock star.”
Michaels ultimately chose Taya Parker as the winner of Rock of Love Season 3, though their relationship was short-lived and he eventually married his wife, Kristi, in 2013, according to the New York Post.
