Riverside County Flies 102 Pets Out of State for Adoption

Riverside County Department of Animal Services recently transported 102 shelter animals out of state to alleviate overcrowding and offer these pets a second chance at finding a home. The effort took place last week and was supported by national rescue partners. It marked the department’s largest cat transport of the year, with 54 cats sent to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. Additionally, 48 dogs and cats were flown to shelters in New York, Texas, and Pennsylvania.

The initiative is part of a broader lifesaving push to ensure more animals find loving homes, especially as shelters face increasing pressure from overcrowding. By partnering with other states, Riverside County aims to give these animals better adoption opportunities and improve their chances of finding permanent homes.
